This research project consist of a theoretical and empirical part. In the theoretical part the implications (effects) of food-away-from-home are described. In the empirical part the demand functions, that could be found in the study "Nutrition habits out of home 1998 (EVA-study from 1998) " are examined. Therefore a model for limited-dependent variables is applied. In a further step the income elasticities of demand and the probability of alcohol consumption is calculated. It could be found in the results, that the working population and pupils, eat out more often and spend more money in food-away-from-home either in a canteen or at the working-place. At the weekends and from male persons it is eaten out more often. The income elasticities of demand show that food-away-from-home rises with increasing income.
