Based on the increasing importance of electromobility combined with the growing demand for all-wheel-drive passenger cars, the work investigates whether and how battery electric four-wheel drive passenger vehicles can dissolve the conflicting objectives of minimum fuel consumption and optimal driving behavior at minimal costs. For this purpose, a modular and adaptive powertrain and vehicle model is developed, validated and optimized with regard to the objectives of driving behavior, fuel consumption and production costs. The results show consumption advantages for an asymmetrical distribution of installed power.
