Zu den typischen Arbeitsmitteln der Ingenieurwissenschaften gehören Dokumentations- und Kommunikationsmittel, die jeher durch die 2D-Zeichnung repräsentiert werden. Diese stellt einen Bruch im heutigen 3D-Produktentstehungsprozess insbesondere zwischen Produktentwicklung und Produktion dar. Die vorliegende Arbeit beschreibt die Entwicklung eines durchgängigen e3D-Prozesses, der als Trägermedium der technischen Produktdokumentation ein e3D-Modell verwendet. Der Informationsfluss von der Entwicklung zur Produktion wird im e3D-Prozess vollständig mittels 3D-Technologien abgedeckt. Insgesamt acht Prototypen veranschaulichen den e3D-Prozess, eine Fallstudie validiert den entwickelten e3D-Prozess und endet mit einer Wirtschaftlichkeitsbetrachtung. Das entwickelte Konzept für einen durchgängigen e3D-Prozess ermöglicht eine Verbesserung und Effizienzsteigerung des Gesamtprozesses und bietet ebenfalls Ausbaumöglichkeiten für weitere Aufgaben.
