Within this work a cDNA micro array of beech trees was developed. This cDNA micro array allowed a systemtically analysis of transcripts after stress events. The focus of this thesis was the analysis of the transcript level of European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) after treatment with elevated ozone and CO2 concentrations and following pathogen attack (Apiognomonia errabunda, Phytophthora citricola, Rhynchaenus fagi and Mikiola fagi). Furthermore beech trees were investigated under strict controlled conditions, in exposure chambers and under little controlled conditions, at the Kranzberg free-air fumigation site. In addition different ontogenic scales were investigated on the basic of three up to seven year old beech saplings and adult beech trees.
