This dissertation aims to explore the drivers for sustainable production of Chinese arable farms in four empirical studies, which include Information and Communication Technology use, food quality certification participation, soil fertility management practices’ adoption, farmers’ mental health, as well as several demographic and farm characteristics and environmental factors. Overall, the results of this dissertation highlight the importance of sustainable agricultural production and identify drivers for fostering the economic and environmental performance of Chinese arable farms. Several policy recommendations are derived to achieve this goal.     «

Diese Dissertation zielt darauf ab, die Triebkräfte für eine nachhaltige Produktion in chinesischen Ackerbaubetrieben durch vier empirische Studien zu erforschen. Dazu gehören der Einsatz von Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologie, die Teilnahme an einer Zertifizierung der Lebensmittelqualität, die Anwendung von Bodenfruchtbarkeitsmanagementpraktiken und die psychische Gesundheit der Landwirte. Insgesamt unterstreichen die Ergebnisse die Bedeutung einer nachhaltigen landwirtschaftlichen Produktion und identifizieren mehrere Stellgrößen, um die ökonomische und ökologische Leistungsfähigkeit von chinesischen Ackerbaubetrieben zu steigern.     «
