Abstract:
Small heat shock proteins (sHsp) keep unfolding substrates from unspecific aggregation by forming complexes with them. Although we know that sHsps protect unfolding substrate proteins, key questions regarding their functional and structural diversity are yet to be answered. This study defines the similarities and differences of the members of the Hsp16 family of C. elegans by investigating their structure and functions in a comparative manner in regards of their high homology.

Kleine Hitzeschockproteine (sHsps) schützen entfaltete Substrate vor unspezifischer Aggregation, indem sie Komplexe mit ihnen bilden. Obwohl wir wissen, dass sHsps entfaltete Substratproteine schützen, bleiben wichtige Fragen über ihre funktionelle und strukturelle Vielfalt unbeantwortet. In dieser Studie definiere ich die Ähnlichkeiten und Unterschiede zwischen den Hsp16s von C. elegans, indem ich ihre Struktur und Funktionen im Lichte ihrer hohen Homologie vergleichend untersuche.
