The behavior of the thermal diffusivity is studied in a wide region of state around the gas-liquid critical point. Applying the measuring method of dynamic light scattering, experiments were performed with the halogenated fluorocarbons R32, R125, R134a, R143a and the binary mixtures R410A and R507A. Approaching the critical point, the thermal diffusivity drops by several orders of magnitude. It can be expressed by the equations developed in this work, which are based on simple power laws. Besides the thermal diffusivity, the refractive index, the density and the critical parameters of the fluids were measured and calculated respectively.
