Persistent and volatile polyfluorinated organic Compounds (PFC) are chemicals with manifold applications. For the determination of PFC concentrations in different matrices, analytical methods using GC-MS or LC-MS were developed. Suitability of SPMD as passive air samplers for PFC was evaluated by laboratory and field experiments and SPMD were compared to other PFC samplers. PFC deposition rates were estimated at three sites in the Alps. Moreover, PFC were determined in water, soil, and spruce needle samples. Detected PFC concentrations domestic dust and consumer products were used to estimate human exposure to PFC.
