Obesity, along with its comorbidities like type 2 diabetes (T2D), has escalated to pandemic proportions. My research elucidates the contribution of specific hypothalamic cell populations, such as OT and OTR expressing neurons and GLUT-1 expressing astrocytes, to the regulation of systemic glucose levels through distinct mechanisms, dependent on peripheral glucose levels. Understanding the roles played by different cell populations within the hypothalamus presents opportunities for tailored interventions addressing glucose dysregulation.
