Dermatological radiation therapy now has a long-term perspective due to new acquirable equipment. This is why it is important to underline the importance of indications for a radiation therapy and its significance in the therapeutic canon. The therapy can be used by a specialised dermatologist for benign skin diseases such as keloids (especially after surgery), in early stages of M. Duyputren, M. Ledderhose and Induratio penis plastica. Very good results are achieved for precancerous lesions such as Lentigo maligna by using this therapy primarily for eldery patients. A radiation therapy for basal cell carcinomas, squamous cell carcinomas, and Lentigo maligna melanomas is worth considering, if tumours cannot locally be excised in sano, patients are inoperable or do not give their consent for surgery. Mycosis fungoides and Kaposi's sarcoma are very radiosensitive tumours, which can successfully be treated primarily or adjuvant for local control by radiotherapy.
