Screening for selected neurological and psychiatric disorders in people from Mocuba District, Zambezia Province, Mozambique

This dataset contains screening data on selected neurological and psychiatric disorders in Mocuba District, Zambezia Province, Mozambique. The study was conducted among residents of Mocuba district from July 2018 to June 2019. The primary focus of the study encompassed the evaluation of sociodemographic factors, and the assessment of recurrent seizures/epilepsy, chronic headache, and psychosis. Data collection was conducted utilizing a modification of a questionnaire developed by the Cysticercosis Working Group for Eastern and Southern Africa (CWGESA). The questionnaire also covered sociodemographic information and investigated participant’s awareness of habits and practices related to the transmission risk of T. solium. Additionally, serological tests using Western blot and Ag-ELISA techniques to detect Abs and Ags specific to T. solium larvae were analysed. Included were data from 6,932 participants from 3,466 households that were randomly selected.      «
