This thesis focuses on the human exposomics of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) in relation to thyroid hormones (THs). LC-MS and LC-MS/MS methods were developed for TH analysis. Associations of THs with certain POPs were found using human placenta and breast milk samples from the Danish EXPORED and German LUPE cohorts, respectively. We did not find a significant association between THs and gestational diabetes in Chinese placenta samples. Low reliability was observed for certain chemicals in the placenta, indicating heterogeneous distributions.
