In order to reduce the power consumption of multicopters, a numerical design framework for propellers was generated. An evolutionary algorithm is used to find improved propeller geometries according to the optimization target. Design variables are used to parameterize the geometry. The aerodynamic properties are determined by solving the steady and incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. The numerically predicted aerodynamic properties of the optimized propeller geometry have been confirmed by prototype measurements.
