Model-based, virtual prototyping enables the cost- and time-efficient design of microsystems. This work introduces a modular, physics-based modelling approach, which faces the diversity of microsystems with models tailored to the specific device and design task. This concept is exemplified by applying it to two different micro devices – a radio-frequency microswitch and a silicon microphone – and evaluated with respect to a general use in microsystem design.
