Kurzfassung:
In this thesis, the implementation of a 3D kinetic Monte Carlo model for organic solar cells is presented. It features the capability to simulate full solar cell devices while considering effects on the nm/sub-ps scale and allows to directly access the dynamics of single particles, thus exceeding the capabilities of established continuum-based models. The presented model is compared to a continuum model in order to highlight its advantages. Interface effects in a 3D blend are investigated. An explanation for the working mechanism of dilute donor cells, a new device technology, is proposed based on the results from a joint modelling and experimental study.
