Kurzfassung:
The dissertation is about the 'metabotyping' concept, which describes the formation of metabolically or phenotypically homogeneous subgroups of individuals, so-called 'metabotypes'. In addition to a comprehensive literature review on this topic, the dissertation covers the identification of comprehensive metabotypes and their application in the exploration of diet-diabetes associations in the population-based KORA study. The results may be relevant for the development of effective targeted dietary recommendations at the metabotype subgroup level for successful diabetes prevention.
