The requirements for modern engines and engine components in aircraft industries are steadily increasing. The assembly and machining of components, made of special high-performance alloys requires a non conventional, cutting-edge technology. A possible machining method is (Precise/Pulsed) Electrochemical Machining ((P)ECM). It concerns the anodical dissolution of metals in an electrolyte-solution. This work is concerned with the investigation of the electrochemical removal behaviour, the relevant process parameters as well as the influence of the material, here the nickelbased-superalloys IN718 (polycrystalline) and LEK94 (single crystalline). The objective of the research is to establish reproducible and reliable process conditions to generate components/samples with maximum surface quality and dimensional accuracy. In addition to fundamental investigations, experiments for a specific application in a complex engine component (Turbine-Blisk) have been conducted.
