HUMS Systems are widely known in the aircraft industry to improve the level of safety during its operation. In this dissertation, the suitability of integrated FBG-sensors as a signal source for HUMS systems is evaluated. A prototype of a helicopter rotor blade, model EC135, is realized with an integrated network of serval FBG-sensors. The prototype is evaluated regarding its structural integrity after embedding the optical fibers into the GFRP material. Special interest is taken into the signal quality according to its standard deviation, signal drift, temperature influence and the calibration of the sensor network.
