Due to global competition, the engineering of automated production systems is becoming more and more complex. To support this engineering, a graph-based approach for managing inconsistencies in and between heterogeneous engineering models has been developed. The basis of this approach is built upon vocabularies for the engineering disciplines as well as a semantic mediation concept. The approach’s suitability is shown by means of a software prototype investigating exemplary automated production system models – domain-specific application opportunities and limitations are derived.
