Abstract:
The effect of edge race-tracking (ERT) and of a passive flow control strategy (PFCS) are studied for the compression resin transfer molding (CRTM) as well as for the film-sealed compression resin transfer molding (FS-CRTM) process. Numerical flow simulations and flow visualization experiments showed that ERT changes the preform impregnation pattern. However, the investigated PFCS diminishes the effect of ERT and, therefore, increases the process robustness of CRTM as well as FS-CRTM.

Die Auswirkungen einer Rand-Bypassströmung (RBS) und passiven Flusskontrollstrategie (PFKS) werden für den Compression Resin Transfer Molding (CRTM) sowie Film-Sealed Compression Resin Transfer Molding (FS-CRTM) Prozess untersucht. Numerische Strömungssimulationen und Strömungsexperimente zeigten, dass RBS die Imprägnierung des Faservorformlings ändert. Die Auswirkungen von RBS können jedoch durch Anwendung der PFKS vermindert und somit die Prozessrobustheit von CRTM und FS-CRTM erhöht werden.
