On the way to automated driving, challenges are not limited to technical and legal questions, but also affect the field of human factors. This work focuses on the distribution of the driving task and the design of the interaction between driver and vehicle while driving conditionally automated. Based on findings from user studies and prototypes in an automated test vehicle, recommendations are derived, targeting adapted interaction concepts and their geometric integration in a cockpit layout, suitable for manual and automated driving.
