Abstract:
The callenge of numerical simulation of fluid-structure interaction (FSI) problems is tackled by a finite-element-based monolithic solver framework allowing for non-matching interface discretizations. Innovations of this thesis are the freedom of choosing solid and fluid time integration schemes independently, an adaptive time stepping scheme for monolithic FSI solvers, and a novel hybrid additive/multiplicative Schwarz preconditioner. Applications to benchmark tests as well as to a biomedical problem prove outstanding robustness and efficiency of the proposed method.
