The tympanoplasty III is a surgical procedure to reconstruct the disrupted sound conduction of the middle ear (ME) via ossicular replacement prostheses (ORP). Due to intraoperatively fixed length of ORPs, they cause prosthesis migration and extrusion. These complications persist, because tools for ORP development have limitations. In this work, a new functional ME model for systematic ORP development and a new postoperative adjustable ME prosthesis (PAM) were introduced. Experiments on models and temporal bone preparations showed that PAM had a great potential to solve these complications.
