In this thesis the thermal elastohydrodynamically lubricated (TEHL) contact is investigated from a tribological point of view by means of computational modelling and the running-in behavior of gears with particular account taken of the formation of triboinduced layers. Results include the development and application of a physically based and verified TEHL simulation model and show, based on systematic experimental and surface analytical investigations on the running-in behavior of gears, the importance of triboinduced layers. On the basis of the findings, an applicable recommendation for running-in of gears is introduced.
