Translated abstract:
This study clarifies the extent to which spectrum, quality and energy of the naturally available diet of two roe deer populations, one inhabiting a forested area and one living in an agriculturally dominated habitat in Bavaria differ from each other. For this purpose, the rumen content and rumen fluid of 222 animals were subjected to macroscopic and chemical analysis. In order to make a holistic assessment of the nutritional status of the roe deer populations in both habitats, in addition, we examined physiological nutritional parameters such as the microbiota composition of the rumen, the condition of the animals and any physiological indications of long-term stress.
