Diese Arbeit handelt von den unterschiedlichen Rollen des Industrie Designs im Kreislauf aus ökonomischen Umbrüchen und der stetigen soziokulturellen Transformation. Hinsichtlich des zunehmenden Bedarfs an Reflexivität bei der aktiven Transformation unserer Wertschöpfungssysteme wird die Profilierung des Industrie Designs in vier Kompetenzfelder vorgeschlagen. Darüber hinaus wird das pädagogische Potenzial partizipativer Methoden in der Design Ausbildung untersucht. Es wird aufgezeigt, dass Co-Design das Potenzial hat, in transformativen Prozessen Orientierung zu geben und eine verantwortungsvolle wissenschaftlich-technische Entwicklung zu fördern.     «

This thesis evaluates the different roles of Industrial Design through periods of economic upheaval and gradual socioeconomic transformation. The concept of economic upheaval is dealt with not as impediment but as window of opportunity for sociocultural transformation. The exploration proposes a differentiation of four Industrial Design competencies, considering the increasing need for reflection while actively transforming our economic systems of value creation. Furthermore the effectiveness of participatory methods for Industrial Design education is analysed. Co-Design is found to foster orientation during transformational processes and can promote responsible scientific and technological development.     «
