Abstract:
Phosphorus (P) stands out as a central element for the functioning of terrestrial ecosystems, with its speciation being a key factor for bioavailability. This work aimed to develop, optimize, and apply novel synchrotron-based X-ray (micro)spectroscopy methods for soil P analysis at the macro- and micro-scale. A novel approach for the speciation of P using XANES spectroscopy was developed. The shifts in soil C, N, P and S speciation in mountain forest soils across a temperature gradient were revealed. At the microscale, P speciation modulates tree´s root functional traits.

Phosphor (P) ist ein zentrales Element für das Funktionieren terrestrischer Ökosysteme, und die P-Bindungsformenverteilung im Boden gilt als Hauptfaktor für seine Bioverfügbarkeit. Diese Arbeit zielte auf die Optimierung und Anwendung neuartiger Synchrotron-basierter röntgen-(mikro)spektroskopischer Methoden für die Analyse von P in Böden auf der Makro- und der Mikroskala ab. Ein neuer Ansatz zur Speziation von P, welcher die P L-Kanten-XANES-Spektroskopie nutzt, wurde entwickelt. Die Veränderungen der C-N-P-und-S Speziierung in Gebirgswaldböden im Verlauf eines Temperaturgradienten wurde festgestellt. Auf der Mikroskala moduliert die Boden-P-Speziierung die Wurzelfunktionsmerkmale der Baume.
