This thesis contributes to the evaluation of forest management effects on biodiversity by investigating the impacts of overall management intensity and tree species composition on a series of taxa covering several trophic levels. Management strongly shapes forest communities, with strict forest reserves contributing to biodiversity conservation even in forests under integrative management. Tree species admixture can significantly increase structural heterogeneity and landscape-level biodiversity in beech forests.
