Abstract:
Ablation procedures have been applied in various medical fields for the purpose of removing or destroying diseased tissues. However, the lack of sensory feedback during ablation procedures still yields a non-negligible risk of ineffective treatments or collateral damage to healthy surrounding tissues.
The aim of this work was therefore to investigate how Optoacoustics, a promising and versatile modality in Biomedical Imaging and Sensing, can be utilized to monitor biophysical processes occurring during ablation, in order to provide direct and precise feedback on the outcome of the ablation procedure.
