Abstract:
The presented work explores methods for multispectral optoacoustic tomography (MSOT). Different instrumentation related effects are analyzed regarding their influence on imaging performance. Two dedicated MSOT imaging platforms for 2D and 3D real-time imaging of small animals and tissue samples are conceived and different reconstruction approaches investigated. Using the developments it is established that MSOT can resolve anatomical, functional and molecular information in tissue and that it can be used for assessing biodistribution and pharmacokinetic parameters of molecular probes in mice.
