In this dissertation several system configurations for the optimized utilization of biomass resources in solid oxide cells for electricity generation and storage are investigated. A focus is put on exergetic optimization with the utilization of waste heat in gasification and biogas generation processes. Following the thermodynamic analysis, an economic evaluation of biogas-based reversible solid oxide cell systems is performed in comparison with state-of-the-art technology for biogas utilization.
