In the present dissertation modern dynamic sealing systems for turbomachines are investigated, aiming for an assessment of their leakage behavior and rotordynamic characteristics. Based on an extensive literature survey regarding state of the art, two different sealing configurations were selected for further analyses. Two test rigs and different numerical models were used to determine leakage and rotordynamic stiffness and damping coefficients. Here, not only geometry variations but also the influence of varying operational parameters is considered regarding inlet pressure, preswirl, rotor speed and rotor vibrational frequency.
