Thermochemical gasification of biomass opens up a wide range of potential applications such as power generation and fuel synthesis. This thesis deals with the oxygen-blown entrained flow gasification of biomass - so far only state of the art in the field of coal gasification. Therefore, an industrial test facility was designed and built. Various raw and thermally pretreated biomasses were investigated regarding fuel conversion, achievable cold gas efficiency and gas quality. The technical feasibility of the oxygen-blown entrained flow gasification of biomass has been demonstrated.
