Erstellen eines CO2-Potentialatlas Deutschlands für die Systemintegration von „Power-to-Fuel“
Übersetzter Titel:
Developing a model of the CO2-supply in Germany with regard to the system integration of “Power-to-Fuel”
Abstract:

The objective was to develop a model of the CO2-supply in Germany to identify and localize the potential of methanation. In addition, the ideal short term locations for methanation were identified. These ease the load on the power grids and do not require transport of CO2 and H2. The data of CO2-emitters were derived from the CO2-certificates. Location overlaps were identified based on postal code. The data processing was implemented in Matlab. Statistics were derived using QGIS and Excel. The illustration was realized in Matlab and MS Power View. Power plants emit about 370 million tons CO2 a year and have the best prerequisite for extensive CO2 capture. North Rhine-Westphalia emits the most CO2 at 200 million tons a year. Bavaria has a low CO2 emission considering its numerous industrial facilities. About 240 ideal locations were identified with a potential of methanation of about 5.76 TWh methane equivalent. The limiting factor of the potential of methanation is the supply of renewable energy, not the supply of CO2 . Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Brandenburg and North Rhine-Westphalia have the largest potential of methanation.
