This thesis adresses the problem of improving decentralized multivariable control systems with classical and modern control concepts. The focus of this work lies on the decoupling of the subsystems with disturbance feedforward using statical and dynamical decoupling networks. By the addition of prediction models the disturbance feedforward is extended to a delay-aware decoupling concept yielding further improvement of the decoupling quality. For the purpose of estimating non-measurable coupling variables and unkown or time-variant plant parameters different concepts of disturbance observers are introduced and investigated. A plant for continuous processing of material is used as an application example which is investigated by simulation. Results from an experimental setup show the practical applicability of the proposed disturbance feedforward.
