Kurzfassung:
Patients suffering from cardiogenic shock may benefit with the early application of a portable extracorporeal circulatory support system reducing the risk of organ failure, improving the chances of survival. Current systems require the presence and constant supervision of trained personal. The focus of this work is the design of a controller that allows the automation of such devices, reducing the work load of the operator.
Fuzzy logic is used as a control mechanism; a learning/adapting algorithm is proposed to improve the behavior of the controller according to patient reactions. For the design and verification of the system a mathematical model was created simulating the cardiovascular system under extracorporeal circulation. Animal experiments took place for the extraction of relevant parameters which were used to adjust the mathematical model. At the end simulations are presented showing the behavior of the designed controller.
