Abstract:
The ovule of Arabidopsis thaliana is a unique model system to study tissue morphogenesis since the organ exhibits a curved shape (anatropy). The present study aims to generate a 3D digital atlas of wild-type and mutant ovule development with cellular resolution through deep confocal microscopy and optimized 3D cell segmentation. The performed quantitative analysis investigated the cellular and tissue growth patterns shaping the ovule, suggesting the ovule curvature as a multistep process.
