Abstract:
This dissertation shows how the automatic text-mining of the biomedical literature can assist human experts in their work. We look at three real cases, wherein automatic annotations effectively leveraged the feedback of experts. We worked with the renowned scientific repositories PubMed, UniProtKB, and FlyBase; we showed that the newly developed methods saved time and costs in database curation. We applied techniques of active learning, named-entity recognition, and relationship extraction.

In dieser Dissertation wird gezeigt, inwiefern automatisiertes Text-Mining biomedizinischen Fachartikeln Experten bei ihrer täglichen Arbeit unterstützen kann. Im Zuge dessen betrachten wir drei reale Fälle, in denen das Feedback der Experten durch automatisierte Annotation unterstützt wurde. Wir griffen auf etablierte Datenbanken wie PubMed, UniProtKB und FlyBase zurück und konnten zeigen, dass durch die neu entwickelten Methoden sowohl Zeit als auch Geld bei der Pflege der Datenbanken gespart werden kann. Technisch gesehen werden in dieser Arbeit Bereiche des aktiven Lernens, der named-entity recognition sowie der relationship extraction angewendet.
