Clathrin-mediated endocytosis is important to control protein abundance at the plasma membrane. The work presented in this thesis shows that SH3 DOMAIN-CONTAINING PROTEIN 2 (SH3P2) is a ubiquitin-adaptor protein involved in endosomal trafficking events. Using biochemical, cell biological and genetic methods, it was shown that SH3P2 is associated with clathrin-coated vesicles and with components of the endosomal transport machinery and is key for the recognition of ubiquitin-conjugates at the plasma membrane.
