Rearing calves in outside air stables is a growing in large dairy farms. Problematic in terms of morbidity events and social fabric is the continuous stabling with low offspring share. The calves (n = 442) were divided after 14 days under randomized conditions are kept separately in groups. The attitude-and-out procedure (RR) and continuous occupancy differed in particular regarding the age difference within the groups. Using automatically based Pedometertechnik was investigated locomotor and resting behavior of calves. The findings and the documented information, such as raising body mass development, morbidity and mortality rate suggest slight advantages of the RR.
