This theses deals with various aspects concerning the determination of the effects (in particular traffic loads), the design and the construction of tied arch bridges, whereby the main focus lies on the hanger connections. Models for standardized connections of flat steel hangers at box cross sections are developed and investigations are carried out on details with the help of FEM and component tests.
As a summary, a catalogue of recommendations for the design of tied arch bridges with flat steel hangers is given.
