Abstract:
HIV research is dependent on new drugs, as the disease is still not curable and around 1 million HIV related deaths are reported every year. Plant extracts are the worlds richest source of novel bioactive compounds and we developed therefore a fractionation setup including chromatography, ultrahigh resolution mass spectrometry and high content phenotypic profiling to identify bioactive metabolites. Using this approach, we could describe a potential integrase inhibitor in Cistus incanus. Additional bioactive metabolites could be described for further research.
