With regard to the reuse of reinforced concrete components constructed using in-situ concre
te, the dismantling of the donor building is an elementary process. Therefore, the selection of
a suitable demolition method becomes a fundamental aspect of planning. A wide variety of
aspects, such as the properties of the machines used or the associated logistics concepts,
can be decisive for this.
In line with the two research questions, this study conducts a literature review to examine
the characteristics of specific procedures. The first research question focuses on various ap
plications, technical properties, and process-related aspects. The second research question
investigates emissions, including vibration, noise, dust, gritting and water. The aim of this
scientific paper is to analyze suitable techniques with regard to their characteristics and to
illustrate their differences. This work can serve as a basis for the selection of methods and for
further research into the reuse of reinforced concrete components.
Sawing methods, hydrodynamic methods, soundless chemical demolition agents and oxy
gen lances were identified as suitable methods. The results revealed differences in cutting
properties, applicability, dismantling processes and emissions, among other things. Sawing
shows properties that make them particularly suitable for the dismantling process. For instan
ce, their precision allows for controlled cutting at significant depths, making them effective for
dismantling structures. Through the detailed analysis and comparison of the capabilities and
properties of the various deconstruction methods, the aim of this thesis was achieved.
