Introduction: Skeletal muscle mass maintenance and growth require amino acids, nucleotides, and lipids for macromolecule and cell organelle synthesis. Some of these essential building blocks can be de novo synthesized from intermediates of the glycolysis in serine synthesis and pentose phosphate pathways.
