- Abstract:
- Not much is known about natural transformation, one of the most common ways of horizontal gene transfer, in the model actinobacterial organism Micrococcus luteus and the entire phylum Actinobacteria. Via a random genetic approach, it was possible to find and characterize previously unreported genes/proteins involved in competence development and the regulation of the key genes comEA/EC in M. luteus. Orthologs of these genes may play similar roles in related actinobacteria.

- Über natürliche Transformation, eine der wichtigsten Wege horizontalen Gentransfers, im aktinobakteriellen Modellorganismus Micrococcus luteus und im Phylum Actinobacteria insgesamt ist nicht viel bekannt. Über einen Zufallsmutageneseansatz war es möglich, bisher unbekannte Gene/Proteine zu finden und zu charakterisieren, die an Kompetenzentwicklung und Regulation der Schlüsselgene comEA/EC in M. luteus beteiligt sind. Orthologe Gene könnten in verwandten Bakterien eine ähnliche Rolle spielen.
