Schizophrenia is one of the most severe mental diseases. Prevalence estimates range from four to seven per 1,000 persons. Despite the efforts of numerous studies, the underlying mechanisms are still unknown. This thesis provides a detailed genetic analysis of a cohort of schizophrenia patients. With the implementation of a unique analysis strategy that combines various computational methods, this work shows an accumulation of deleterious events affecting the neuronal cytoskeleton of schizophrenia patients.
