In this thesis, a method for the systematic analysis and comparison of energy management concepts in settlements comprising single-family dwellings in the low-voltage grid is developed. Energy management concepts are evaluated in terms of their techno-economic added value subject to structural, technical, and regulatory conditions. Subject of this thesis are two concepts, the "Self-Optimizer" (EO) and the "Smart Micro Grid" (SMG). In the case of EO, each dwelling in the settlement is equipped with a home energy management system, while in the case of SMG these are expanded by a central intelligence at settlement level, allowing for targeted coordination of the electricity flow within the settlement.
