This paper contributes aspects of extended cost analysis options in the early design stage of complex systems development. A method for cost reduction from a systems engineering perspective is presented by analyzing the impact of design changes on cost and the specific cost behavior of systems. Based on a model-driven parametric approach for the conceptual design which can be implemented in a spreadsheet environment, and theoretical considerations, an extended set of generic systematic cost influence options is derived that can be applied in every design change situation.
