Non-ribosomal peptides are a large class of bioactive natural products. Some of these peptides contain remarkable biaryl structural elements. Of particular interest are the antiviral complestatin and the antibiotic arylomycins. Because of their complex molecular scaffolds, synthetic routes towards such molecules are often highly challenging. The aim of this work thus was to explore an innovative approach combining the strengths of organic synthesis with the selectivity of biosynthetic enzymes to prepare such peptides in a highly efficient manner.     «
