MBSE and modularity are basic concepts being prerequisites for smart automated Production Systems (aPS). To enable self-x abilities for such modular aPS, the individual resources need to know their abilities and provide them to any other aPS via their interfaces. Many recent works try to specify such interfaces and deliver mechanisms for thenegotiationbetween the individual resources. In this contribution, the fundamental graphical models for such a description of an aPS are introduced using SysML, AML and ontologies. Exemplarily, changing product requirements and how they can be fulfilled by changing the resource are introduced and explained by the changed behavioral and structural models. OCL as well as ontologies as means to enable such changes automatically are introduced. Selected aspects like distributed hardware architectures as well as interdisciplinary collaboration are addressed additionally.
